The Engineering Technician assists engineers in preparing for testing as well as collection of test data to prepare for the customer.
Essential Functions
- Performs set-up, testing, fabrication and supporting calculations and may conduct moderate analysis.
- Compiles and organizes technical data.
- Testing Operation and maintenance of data acquisition systems; test preparation, setup, tear down, and general support
- Documentation Collection and organization of test data; maintenance and correction of test procedures
- Equipment Maintenance Coordination of general schedule; inspection and maintenance of all equipment
- Plans activities within specific guidelines to meet deadlines.

Other Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions)
- Create accurate project reports
- Maintain property equipment in good condition
- Document, report, and maintain test data and procedures properly
- Provide mechanical/electrical support in testing vehicles and components
- Complete customer support in a timely, error-free and competitive manner
- Assemble or construct simple parts or equipment
- Operate equipment after training
- Train others in high-level mechanical or electrical skills
- Perform non-standardized assignments
- Assist in the planning of projects
- Write reports and analyze data
- Follow safety procedures; wear protective equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes
- Support TRC Inc.s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts
Qualifications
- High school diploma is required
- Prior laboratory technician experience is a plus
- 10 years of related experience; or 8 years experience with two-year degree
- Prior automotive technician or electrical experience preferred
- Valid drivers license
- Willing to travel for up to two weeks at a time
- Proficient with computer software associated with customer needs
- Willing to work overtime on short notice
- Excellent communication skills including interacting with customers
Working conditions
- May be exposed to temperatures below 0 degrees and above 95 degrees
- May be exposed to inclement weather
- Some travel is required
Physical requirements
- Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Capable of positioning ones self into bending, stretching, climbing, or awkward positions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
- Ability to enter work times into a computer
- Able to speak and hear through a hand-held radio
