Position Description :
The Programmer Analyst is responsible for providing data acquisition guidelines, data preprocessing, conditioning, and analysis. This would involve system custom-written programming, hardware / software support for customer projects, and compiling the analysis into reports. In general, the Programmer Analyst completes the detail analysis of test data by creating custom code to determine trends and events of interest and works to define and implement any programming requirements for associated research and testing. This might include data conditioning techniques (e.g. coordinate transformations, filtering time history data, etc.), visualizing data by creating animations, applying various statistical analysis methods, and creation of custom code to aid in the conduct of the test. Development of data acquisition systems and application programs; performs maintenance for data acquisition systems and application programs as required; develops the required software; and works to define and implement any programming requirements for associated research and testing
Essential Functions
Provide recommendations in the development and use of technology and technical methods for component and / or full-scale vehicle evaluation, or other related areas of motor vehicle safety research
Conduct experiments and data analysis relating to vehicle safety research. Perform analyses of motor vehicle safety or tools used to evaluate motor vehicle safety using mechanical, electrical, computer, biomechanical, human factors, or other engineering principles. Maintain and update existing data acquisition systems and application programs to ensure optimal operation
Critically evaluate, develop, and implement new custom data acquisition systems and application programs to support testing

Other Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions)
Development of data display software, modifications to forms, and the development of Monte Carlo simulations
Represent Customer and TRC Inc. at technical conferences and on committees
Maintain existing data acquisition systems and keep them in optimal operating condition
Critically evaluate develop new custom data acquisition systems to directly support testing
Keep up with industry trends and issues in data acquisition systems integration
Develop custom-written, program-specific, software when needed
Support TRC Inc.s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts
Coordinate project schedule changes and scope of work with project engineers
Keep up with industry trends and issues in automotive transportation fields, data acquisition, and software development
Develop creative solutions to difficult technical problems
Has business and technical knowledge to identify potential problems and opportunities that may impact projects
Qualifications
Bachelors degree with experience or widely recognized widely as an expert in a specific area of automotive engineering or transportation research
5 years of related experience preferred
Valid drivers license
Ability to work in a team and fully independently to reach project goals
Proficient in the use of instrumentation and data acquisition equipment
Proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C, Microsoft Visual C , Microsoft Visual Basic, and other industry recognized languages
Ability to attract, generate, and retain contracts
Working conditions

May be exposed to temperatures below 0 degrees and above 95 degrees
May be exposed to inclement weather
May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, such as gas, oil, and paint
Physical requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
