Clarification from the agency
All current TSA permanent or competitive temporary employees, TSA-Wide. This position is part of the TSA Leadership Succession Planning and Development Program. This is not a permanent assignment; the initial tour of duty is normally 36 months, and with agency approval a second tour of duty up to 24 months. Any subsequent tour of duty extension beyond the second tour will be based on the Agency's needs.
Duties
This position reports to the Federal Security Director and assists in providing day-to-day operational leadership for Federal transportation security responsibilities at various geographical locations. The Deputy Federal Security Director (DFSD) will be the second ranking TSA authority responsible for the leadership and coordination of TSA security activities within commercial airports and for the oversight of security in the assigned area of operation. These responsibilities and accompanying authority include the tactical planning, execution and operating management for coordinated security activities, and other duties as prescribed by the Administrator, Transportation Security Administration, and the Federal Security Director.

Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-K Pay Band (equivalent to GS-15) , you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-J Pay Band or GS-14in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is defined as :
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience) : Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

SUPERVISORY / MANAGERIAL PROBATIONARY PERIOD REQUIREMENTS : Unless previously completed, you must satisfactorily complete a one-year supervisory probationary period to continue in this
supervisory / managerial position.
