What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver Substitute (11850) position at Transportation?
The job of the Bus Driver Substitute is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses.
Responsibilities include - advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior; assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations; assists students and other passengers; attends meetings, trainings, etc.; cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior; conducts emergency evacuation drills; drives school bus(es); fuels assigned vehicle, (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.); performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.); prepares documents and reports, (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.); reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.); responds to inquires, (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.); supervises students and other passengers during transit; assists other personnel as may be required.
Experience is desired. Substitute will work on an as needed basis with hours to vary. $19.40 per hour - depending on experience; w/Certificate. $10.82 per hour during District provided training for new bus drivers. Position is non-benefitted.
Qualifications - Alcohol and Drug Test; Pre-placement Physical Exam; Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance; Random drug testing; Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
