What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Bus Driver position at Transportation?
Qualifications:
1. Must hold valid CDL License to drive a school bus with airbrake certification
2. Must be twenty-one years of age
3. Physically able to operate a school bus safely
4. Able to read and write
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Drive the bus where directed by the Director of Operations
2. Obeys all traffic laws
3. Keeps to assigned bus schedule
4. Transports only school pupils, school personnel and approved persons
5. Uses the bus only for approved official business
6. Keeps bus clean
7. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
8. Performs the duties in a business-like manner and reports immediately to the Director of Operations any unsafe conditions related to the bus, the pupils, the roads or other users of the highway
9. Performs and records a daily pre-trip inspection immediately prior to transporting students
10.Notifies the bus shop of mechanical failure
11.Discharges student only at authorized stops
12.Reports all accidents to the Director of Operations
13.Exercises responsible leadership and courtesy when on out-of-district and/or special trips
14.Maintains discipline on school bus and reports undisciplined students to the principal
15.Performs duties regularly except in emergencies or sickness
16.Stops the school bus, looks and listens at all rail crossings
17.Attends bus meeting as scheduled by the Director of Operations
18.Performs responsibilities in accordance with school board policies and regulations
19.Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
