Primary Purpose
To provide a safe and orderly environment for transporting students on an adaptive or non-adaptive bus
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- High School diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to relate to and work well with children
- Ability to maintain effective pupil behavior management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and assist students when necessary
- Must possess personal qualities related to respect for the rights and confidentiality of others
Experience
- Prior experience working with students in a school district environment a plus
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Records, Reports, and Correspondence
- Assist students with entering and exiting the bus in a safe manner
- Seat students safely ensuring seat belt is properly used and secure
- Monitor passengers to ensure safety regulations and student conduct rules are followed
- Assist driver in keeping the interior of the bus clean and organized
- Assist driver with appropriate and required paperwork for student ridership as required
- Maintain or move to a seated location on the bus to ensure clear observation of students
- Maintain confidential information about students is kept confidential on and off duty
- Demonstrate flexibility to change in routine and adapt quickly to changing situations
- Demonstrate respect, courteous to peers, visitors and assist fellow workers willingly
- Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule

- Maintain physical and computerized files including confidential student information and IEP

- Demonstrates ability to remain calm and withstand pressures
