What are the responsibilities and job description for the RV Delivery and Service Trainee position at Transwest Inc?
As a Transwest Lot Porter, Your primary duty will be moving, transporting, and parking RV’s on and off the lot. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the shop and grounds. Lot Technician is an entry level position with opportunity for advancement into our RV Technician Training Program or other opportunities within the Transwest family of companies.
The Lot technician is an important part of our daily operations and requires an individual who is self-motivated and can operate in a fast paced environment. Trainees will be assigned progressive responsibility as increased proficiency is demonstrated through on-the-job performance. This responsibility will be under the direction of the Mentor Technician and Service Manager.
The Service Trainee will be provided hands-on, on-the-job training by working with the expert guidance of an A or A level Transwest Technician. Trainees will gain valuable skills by observing and working alongside Mentor Technicians on state of the art recreational vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Trash disposal, sweeping, and cleaning of the shop area and technician bays
- Moving and parking coaches on the lot in a timely fashion.
- Regular housekeeping of the grounds i.e. trash, sweeping, snow removal.
- Occasionally required to pick-up or drop-off to customer locations.
- Perform minor detail work on RVs.
- Provide labor assistance to mentor technician.
- Participate in monthly performance reviews with Mentor Technician and Service Manager.
- Perform work as directed by Mentor Technician.
- Perform all work with efficiency and accuracy and in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Communicate with the parts department to secure necessary parts.
- Save and tag warranty parts.
- Ensure customer vehicle cleanliness.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Accountable for all dealership owned tools.
- Uphold federal, state and local regulations governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
- Perform job duties and functions with flexibility in the event circumstances shift, I.e., emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, rush jobs or technology developments.
- Perform minor detail work on vehicles.
- Determine vehicle condition by inspecting vehicle before and after use.
- Log and report vehicle inspections.
- Practice safe driving at all times by complying with organization policies and procedures and highway rules and regulations.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations at all times.
- Road test vehicles for technicians when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Required to perform work inside and outside, in all-weather situations.
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned.
- Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery.
- Requires working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to climb in and out of vehicles.
- Manual dexterity, fine manipulation and the ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Must have ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
- Normal range of hearing and vision.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Candidate must be a motivated Individual who can work under the guidance of Mentor Technician.
- Selected candidate may be required to participate in training sessions for products serviced by the company at the company's expense.
- Valid class A or B Commercial Driver’s License and MVR in good standing.
- Professional and courteous demeanor.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
