Performs a variety of responsible semi-skilled work in the operation of a passenger van used to transport the elderly, children, and the general public, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Transportation Planner.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Transporting and assisting the elderly, persons with disabilities, children and the general public while maintaining van equipment and record keeping. Ensures the safe pick up and return of passengers.Ensures vans are properly fueled and maintainedMaintains the van in good working order by regularly checking operating parts: and systems such as checking the fluid levels, checking tire pressure, checking belts and taking the van to the garage when scheduled for service. Washes and cleans the van as needed.Maintains passenger and trip records.Assists passengers on and off the van.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or its equivalent and good and clean driving recordRequired Licenses or CertificationsDriver's License valid in the State of North Carolina.Additional RequirementsNegative pre-employment drug and alcohol test required.Work EnvironmentWork regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and occasionally requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. outdoors, heavy traffic).
