Gannett Fleming TranSystems’ Ebensburg, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia Pennsylvania offices have an immediate opening for an Aviation Project Engineer/Project Manager. This position includes completion or management of Aviation design, rehabilitation, and construction projects along with the oversight of the production of construction documents, specifications, and estimates. In addition, duties may include construction management services. Client and/or project assignments will be provided by current Airport and Civil Engineering Group Management. Assignments will involve travel within the continental United States and could potentially involve travel outside of the US.

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversee Aviation or Civil Engineering staff participating in the completion of design or construction projects.
- Contact subconsultants and negotiate scope and fees necessary to aid in assigned projects.
- Receives instructions from Vice President or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
- Responsible for accuracy of engineering design, reports, calculations, plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
- Keeps Senior Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services and need for help from Aviation/Civil staff.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Mentor junior level staff.
- Assist or participate in preparation of business proposals.
- Be willing to travel within the continental United States and for limited travel outside the US.
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in highways, general civil or construction management from an ABET-accredited university or college.
- At least 8 years of Aviation or Highway Project Design and Management.
- Experience overseeing all types of Aviation, Highway or General Civil Engineering Projects and overseeing the staff necessary to help with the completion of those projects.
- Knowledge of FAA and State Aviation Grant Requirements.
- Individuals must have experience in reading plans, shop drawings, and evaluating contractor compliance with construction plans and specifications.
- Team oriented engineer with strong communication skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other AutoCAD-related software.
- Able and willing to travel within the continental United States.
- Physically capable of performing field work including dealing and negotiating with Contractors and Airport Management, communications with Air Traffic Control, and, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
- Valid Driver’s License.

- The preferred candidate will have an Aviation engineering background, knowledge of AutoCAD, and experience in working with the FAA Advisory Circulars and staff from the FAA and State Aviation agencies
- No relocation assistance - Local candidates preferred.
- Harrisburg, Beckley and Washington Airports District Office experience is preferred, as is working with the PennDOT Bureau of Aviation, Maryland Aviation Administration, West Virginia Aeronautics Commission and/or NJDOT.
- Intimate experience with Microsoft Suite of products.
- A Professional Civil Engineer’s License in PA or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity is required. Licensing in other mid-Atlantic states is preferred.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
