Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking an established engineering leader with experience in roadway engineering and project management to join one of the following Gannett Fleming TranSystems locations: Kansas City, MO; St. Louis, MO; Wichita, KS; Omaha, NE. The Senior Project Manager - Roadway Engineering (DOT) role will be responsible for the design and preparation of plan submittals related to highway and arterial roadway design, complex intersection design, local roadways, site design, bridge replacement/rehabilitation, traffic design, drainage design for MoDOT, KDOT, NDOT and Iowa DOT and other various DOTs and municipal agencies.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):
- Project Management
- Perform project management and engineering tasks related to the planning and design of transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, railroad and drainage. Be part of a Design Team that produces plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for transportation construction projects. Duties include oversight and preparation of engineering reports, engineering calculations and analysis and furnishing technical documentation for design projects. Work tasks generally pertain to planning and design functions for highways, arterials, traffic, drainage and site design. Attendance at meetings and interaction with clients should be expected. Effective written and oral communication skills are imperative.
- Oversees project delivery by providing direction and oversight to project team members for the completion of technical efforts including roadway, traffic, drainage and site design projects and reports.
- Prioritizes quality in all aspects of daily project work.
- Answers any questions and reviews shop drawings during the construction phase of the project.
- Assist roadway team leaders
- Mentor, support and develop staff engineers
- Develop labor projections for active projects and coordinate with team leaders for resources needed
- Proactively manage project budgets
- Perform quality reviews for other project managers
- Communicate timely and effectively with their Team Leader and other Leaders within the Area.
- Financial Responsibilities
- Lead the project management of projects both technically and financially to meet the clients’ expectations in completing quality projects on-time and on budget.
- Work with team members on project performance.
- Work with Business Manager for PM meetings. Review At-Risk projects.
- Meet utilization goals
- Business Development
- Develop/Maintain Client relationships
- Proposals / RFQ’s - Position and lead project pursuits.
- Client Service Team Meetings - Provide input and support where needed
- Coordination with other offices / areas / regions.
- Work with Team Leader to ensure optimal workload by sharing work as necessary across multiple teams
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor’s degree in the Civil engineering field required.
- Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline: AutoCAD; Open Roads Designer, Land Desktop, and Civil 3D.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer, preferably in Missouri, Kansas or Nebraska.
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

- A minimum of 15 years of design and project management experience.
- Experience with Kansas City, Wichita, St. Louis or Omaha metro area design.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
