Responsibilities What you'll be challenged to do : Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Sr Project Manager / Civil Engineer, Land Development to join our growing Clearwater, FL team. Additional office locations include Tampa, FL. This is a hybrid role. This person will lead and oversee land development projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing project scope, budgets, timelines, and technical aspects while coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and in-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, site development, and regulatory compliance. Primary Responsibilities (others may be included) : Manage and oversee all phases of land development projects, including planning, design, permitting, and construction support. Organizes and develops project team to execute specific phases or aspects of the project such as technical studies, project design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and project inspection. Must be able to delegate. Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of the subject area, definition of scope, selection of problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and approaches. Lead design efforts for grading, drainage, roadways, utilities, and stormwater management Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and coordinate with regulatory agencies. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and project expectations. Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff. Reviews project design for general compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Prepare engineering reports, construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates. Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to ensure adherence to project plans and standards. Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues as they arise. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, manpower, and resolving engineering design problems. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. Shows understanding of team management, develops project scope of work, estimates manpower needs, prepares CPM schedules, and tracks project progress. Assures that the project is completed within the allocated period of time and within the assigned budget. Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside the organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Develops and presents proposals to clients. Directs the inspection of construction sites to monitor progress and ensure general conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards. Plans and executes project meetings. May negotiate a difficult project issue with the client, such as scope changes or schedule acceleration. Assures the project meets quality control and quality assurance guidelines. Interprets changes in the contract and advises management on needed changes. May set up and perform a client marketing meeting. Maintains professional, technical, and supervisory skills by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Qualifications What you bring to our firm : Bachelor’s degree in the engineering field (i.e., Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical). Minimum of 10 years of professional experience with exposure to a variety of engineering projects and a good understanding of project management concepts. Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members. Teamwork – Balances team and individual responsibilities; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit. Leadership – Exhibits confidence in self and others; inspires and motivates others to perform well; inspires respect and trust; accepts feedback from others; provides vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates; gives appropriate recognition to others; mobilizes others to fulfill the vision.
