About the Position:
Trash Scouts is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Outside Sales team as our Business Development Representative. In this role, you will directly impact our Trash Scouts key growth in the Bay Area, enhance our niche service offerings, and grow your professional sales skills.
As a Business Development Representative, you will be the face of Trash Scouts, educating and informing Property Managers and Property Owners about our mission and services. This position is ideal for someone who is energized by new connections and conversations around waste and recycling and is looking for a role outside the traditional office setting.
Our Business Development Representative will cover East Bay, San Francisco, and the Peninsula and expanding regions as needed within the Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Sales: Engage in outside selling activities, in assigned territory to drive Trash Scouts service offerings with multifamily and commercial properties.
- Customer Engagement: Communicate effectively with property managers, building owners and industry partners.
- Account Management: Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers and ensure high level of customer satisfaction
- Goal Achievement: Work independently to consistently meet and exceed monthly sales targets.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, appointments, and customer feedback using company-provided tools.
- Reporting: Provide regular progress updates to supervisors.
- Brand Representation: Uphold Trash Scouts values and professional image in all interactions with new and existing customers.
Qualifications and Requirements

You thrive in dynamic environments, are quick on your feet and see challenges as opportunities for growth. In addition, here are some specifics that we’re looking for:
- Sales Experience: 2 years of sales experience required.
- Location: You will spend 60-75% of your time in the East Bay, covering Alameda County.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize with social and nonverbal cues and adjust communication styles to build trust with customers.
- Independence: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to achieve targets.
- Adaptability: Stay on top of market and industry trends to help educate prospects and clients
- Technical Requirements: A mobile smart phone and reliable transportation are required.
- A clean driving record required
- Bachelor's degree or high school diploma preferred
- Waste and Recycling Industry experience a plus
- Experience using a CRM is preferred
- Applicant must have a valid driver’s license
- To be successful in this role you must have strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Position: Part-time position (25 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Compensation (wage commission): starts at $27 per hour commissions
