Position Summary
We are seeking a professional and service-driven Server Assistant/Expo/Food Runner to join our team at Trattoria Pasquale’s, an upscale dining establishment dedicated to delivering a refined and exceptional guest experience. The Server Assistant/Expo/Food Runner plays a critical role in ensuring that dishes leave the kitchen promptly, are delivered with care, and arrive at the guest’s table with proper presentation and accuracy.
This position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency, while working collaboratively with both front-of-house and back-of-house staff to maintain seamless service.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guest tables accurately and efficiently
- Ensure that each dish is presented according to restaurant standards before leaving the kitchen
- Announce each dish to the guest upon delivery, identifying key components or modifications when necessary
- Support servers in clearing and resetting tables, delivering condiments, and fulfilling guest requests
- Assist with expo line organization, tray setup, and plate timing during busy service hours
- Communicate with kitchen and service staff to ensure prompt and correct order delivery
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of food runner station, trays, and supplies
- Assist in food running for large parties, multi-course tasting menus, and private dining events
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a food runner or server assistant in a fine dining or upscale restaurant preferred
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to carry heavy trays and walk/stand for long periods
- Excellent attention to detail and timing
- Familiarity with food allergy protocols, special dietary needs, and proper dish presentation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
- Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of culinary terminology and upscale service etiquette
- Familiarity with POS and kitchen display systems (KDS)
- Experience with multi-course service, wine pairings, and special events
- Food Handler Certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs safely
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
- Comfortable working in tight or crowded areas during service
