Job Title: Family Support Specialist

We are a nonprofit organization based in Sacramento, CA with an additional retreat location in Woodland, Ca. We provide trauma-informed, High Fidelity wraparound services to post-adoptive families throughout CA. Our goal is to stabilize and strengthen families by providing them with essential tools and knowledge to foster healthy, loving relationships.
Position Overview
The Family Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing assistance and resources to families in need. This position involves working closely with families to promote their well-being, enhance family dynamics, and ensure the safety and welfare of children. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in child welfare, crisis intervention, and social work, demonstrating a commitment to supporting families through challenging situations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to identify areas of concern of families, using nurturing and trauma-informed approach.
- Provide individual or group coaching for children and parents as needed.
- Collaborate with Child and Family Team to ensure comprehensive support for families.
- Facilitate access to resources such as childcare, behavioral health services, and educational programs.
- Implement conflict management strategies to resolve disputes within the family unit.
- Support families in processing challenging situations and establishing consistent daily routines.
- Monitor progress of families receiving support and serve as a positive role model, demonstrating mindfulness, regulation, and understanding.
- Maintain accurate documentation of interactions and interventions in accordance with agency policies.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong understanding of child welfare systems and experience working with children and families.
- Proven skills in crisis management and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and resources available for families.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in all interactions.
