What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Pastry Assistant position at Travail Kitchen and Amusements?
We are currently searching for an experienced Part-time Pastry Cook for our Travail Restaurant located in downtown Robbinsdale. This position is hourly plus tips.
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday: 9 am to 5 pm (or 8-4, or 10-6pm)

Desired Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of pastry department experience
- 2 years of prep cook experience
- Effective communication, problem solving, planning, organizational, and creative skills; desire to contribute with innovative ideas
- Superior time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks for efficient service and smooth operations
- Strong working knowledge of pastry
- Ability to take direction and work well in a team
- Excellent team building skills
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing a variety of baked goods, dessert items and prepping fruits and vegetables daily according to prep list, company menu initiatives and department guidelines while adhering to quality and presentation standards and food prep checklist
- Ensuring food is stored and prepared at correct temperatures by regulating ovens, induction cooktops, refrigeration units, freezers and other kitchen equipment
- Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
- Regularly restocking all kitchen supplies and food items required for preparation and notifying Pastry Lead of product shortages
- Properly labeling and dating all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation
- Exhibiting a thorough knowledge, understanding and application of all cooking techniques
- Effectively communicating with management to fulfill and address any issues or needs requests by guests or co-workers
- Ensuring kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning
- Keeping work station clean and orderly
- Ensuring all items are in proper place and ready to serve when restaurant opens for business

Physical Demands
Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods at a time
Must be able to reach overhead, bend, squat, kneel, sit
Must be able to walk stairs and climb step ladders
Must be able to use keyboard, mouse, and telephone
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. occasionally or and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently

Pay: Up to $18.00 per hour
