SPECIALTY: Computed Tomography Technologist (CT Tech)
DISCIPLINE: Allied Health Professional
Key Responsibilities:
- Use computed tomography equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients' internal organs and tissues.
- Confirm patient identification, review imaging requests and explain imaging procedures to patients.
- Position patients appropriately for scanning specific areas of their bodies.
- Evaluate CT scans to determine whether they are of good technical quality.
- Follow safety procedures when working with radiation.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
Requirements
To be successful as a CT Technologist, you should have:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in Computed Tomography.
- BLS certification.
- ARRT (CT) National Certification with registration in computed tomography.
- State-specific licensing when required.
You should also be able to:
- Stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Bend, lean or stoop easily.
In addition, a sound knowledge of:
- Anatomy.
- Physiology.
- Pathology.
- Medical terminology.
