What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Marketing & Website Coordinator position at Travel Salem?
Responsible for managing and enhancing Travel Salem’s online presence, www.TravelSalem.com, to promote the destination to visitors, residents, businesses, groups, and stakeholders. Oversees web layout, design, and updates; SEO; online advertising; e-communications (e.g., e-newsletter layout & distribution); pulling visitor and location data reports, website analytics and CRM database management.
TravelSalem.com
- Plan, manage, monitor and evaluate all aspects of TravelSalem.com including publishing all content, creating forms, posting sponsor ads, adding images & graphics, etc.
- Build new webpages and components that enhance the TravelSalem.com site
- Implement website optimization tactics to ensure that TravelSalem.com is in the top search engine rankings (SEO); develop & implement strategies to increase website traffic (e.g., Google Ads)
- Track & analyze all website statistics and online trends; report results to staff and make recommendations for improvements and adoption of new features and/or strategies based on the data
- Coordinate and manage all TravelSalem.com marketing/advertising campaigns (Google ads, pixels, etc.)
- Regularly audit TravelSalem.com and make recommendations to improve the User Experience (UX)
- Oversee all website redesign processes as necessary
- Design and distribute all e-communications (e.g., monthly & quarterly e-newsletters; blogs; e-invites) utilizing the integrated IDSS database
- Update online publications as needed (e.g., reports, plans)
- Collaborate with staff to ensure that the website and e-communications align with the Travel Salem brand
- Coordinate online merchant services and third-party applications (e.g., Square, Authorize.net, SMS platform)
- Help maintain Ad program tracking and ensure accuracy across the CMS and CRM.
- Assist in the optimization of the visual content marketing software (e.g., CrowdRiff))
Database & Software Administration, Analysis & Reports (IDSS, Placer.ai, etc)
- Serve as the primary point person to manage IDSS, Travel Salem’s Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) database
- Train & refresh staff on how to effectively utilize IDSS
- Help ensure that IDSS reports are working properly and serve as liaison with the IDSS team to resolve issues
- Oversee the creation of an IDSS user manual that details how to enter and track data and generate reports for each program area
- Serve as primary user and administrator for Travel Salem’s location intelligence software (Placer.ai)
- Input POI’s, generate regular reports and analyze Placer.ai data; make recommendations based on the data
- Serve as the primary user for tracking and reporting data related to Travel Salem’s consumer advertising program
Administration
1. Produce monthly, quarterly, annual and consumer engagement reports (track and report all website and e-communications statistics & metrics)
2. Responsible for own clerical needs
3. Provide workshops related to online and digital programs as needed (e.g., Google listings)
Miscellaneous Requirements
- Work on special projects as determined by supervisor
- Serve as Visitor Center back-up as needed
- Some evenings, weekends and travel
4. Vehicle required and valid unencumbered Oregon Driver’s License
5. Able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in web design, computer science, digital marketing, or related field preferred
- Highly proficient in the use of Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Experience implementing Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns
- Demonstrated experience analyzing website and other data and making recommendations based on the data
- Experience working with complex databases and software (run reports, track data an analytics, manage overall systems)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and outstanding problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (ability to create simple graphics, edit/manipulate images, etc.)
