Position Overview: The Site General Manager of a Travel Truck Center is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the truck center's operations, ensuring that the facility provides top-notch services to commercial truck drivers, fleet owners, and other customers. The Site General Manager is the key decision-maker for day-to-day operations and staff management at the location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the travel truck center, including fueling, truck maintenance and repair services, and convenience store operations.
- Ensure that all services offered meet or exceed industry standards and that the truck center operates efficiently and safely.
- Implement and monitor operational procedures, striving for continuous improvement in all aspects of the business.
- Manage inventory and supply levels for fuel, parts, and convenience store items to minimize shortages and waste.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of employees, including truck service technicians, retail staff, and other operations personnel.
- Conduct regular training and development programs to improve the skills of staff and maintain compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure effective scheduling to maintain optimal staffing levels while controlling labor costs.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, promoting safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and manage staff development.
- Customer Service:
- Ensure that all customers receive exceptional service, whether they are in need of fuel, repairs, or other services offered at the travel center.

- Implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and promote repeat business, including maintaining a clean, well-organized, and welcoming environment.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the site’s budget, ensuring that costs are controlled, and profitability targets are met.
- Oversee daily cash handling, including reconciliation and deposit processes.
- Analyze financial reports, including sales, costs, and profit margins, to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Drive revenue growth through marketing initiatives, upselling services, and exploring new revenue streams.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure the facility adheres to all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including fuel management, hazardous material handling, and employee health and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and training to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and customers.
- Facility Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the truck center, ensuring that all areas (fuel pumps, service bays, restrooms, parking, etc.) are clean, organized, and in good working order.
- Manage repair and maintenance schedules for equipment, facilities, and infrastructure to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for facility needs, including fuel suppliers, equipment maintenance, and janitorial services.
- Business Development & Marketing:
- Collaborate with marketing teams or directly develop promotional strategies to increase customer traffic, including targeted campaigns for trucking companies and independent drivers.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the truck center’s services, such as adding new repair or maintenance services or enhancing retail offerings.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, including fleet owners, independent truckers, and other local businesses to drive revenue.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Provide regular updates and reports to upper management on site performance, including financials, customer satisfaction, operational issues, and staff performance.
- Communicate with vendors, partners, and corporate leadership to ensure smooth operations and successful project execution.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to adjust strategies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the transportation, automotive, or truck service industries.
- Previous experience in managing a multi-functional team and overseeing operations at a service-oriented facility (truck stop, repair center, fleet services, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of fleet services, truck maintenance, and repair, as well as fueling operations, is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle customer concerns with professionalism.
- Financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, analyzing profit and loss statements, and controlling operational costs.

- Education:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
