The Safety Officer will play a crucial role on the TRAX Management Team, providing essential safety data and operational support to our leadership team. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive knowledge of safety programs and principles to maintain a secure environment. They will outline and implement training programs designed to educate and inform the workforce about work safety, environmental safety, and accident prevention regulations and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and distribute educational materials, including videos, guides, and posters.
- Track and document accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future incidents.
- Perform inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes, recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance with established regulations.
- Participate in the training of site personnel.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the overall security program as a DoD Contractor at Western Desert Test Center – MSS.
- Develop and implement security plans, procedures, and instructions.
- Provide security awareness training for site personnel.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with government and internal customers.
- Conduct periodic self-inspection and review of safety processes to ensure compliance.
- Enforce standards for a safe environment to protect personnel, property, and information.
- Investigate and report safety violations and adverse information reports with the appropriate agency.
- Set safety standards based on legal requirements.
- Create and implement safety plans, ensuring daily adherence.
- Conduct safety observation reports regularly.
- Monitor working conditions and resolve any safety issues.
- Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project.
- Educate employees on safety standards and safe machinery operation.
- Provide recommendations for improving workplace safety.
- Investigate onsite accidents to identify possible causes.
- Maintain documentation of safety procedures, accidents, and related events.
- Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience as a government safety representative.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in comprehensive safety and OSHA standards.
- Secret security clearance required.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and manage a comprehensive Safety Program.
- Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office.
- Availability to respond to “after hours” alarms or emergencies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours with little prior notice.
- Capable of working in field conditions to perform inspections and investigations.
- Highly developed analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment.
