TRC, one of the nation’s most capable engineering service firms is currently seeking a Manager for the firm’s Power System Studies (PSS) Engineering practice. The individual selected will manage a team of engineers and oversee the performance of the team. The successful applicant will have responsibility for technical leadership, proposal development, financial performance, and resource management of the team. The role also includes working with clients to develop business opportunities or the strengthening of existing relationships.
As a member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for providing direction, coaching and mentoring to a team of professional and technical staff responsible for the quality and delivery of the work.
- Required to lead, develop and foster an innovative and collaborative work environment within TRC's PSS Engineering practice.
- As an engaged coach you will lead and mentor a team of professional and technical staff
- Responsible for the coordination & planning of all assignments, ensuring that all projects meet technical performance objectives and quality
- Manages staff including selection, performance feedback, salary planning, training and career development
- Involvement in the recruitment and retention of technical and professional staff
- Develop discipline specific engineering and technical standards, practices, procedures and techniques
- Lead department sales efforts to attract new business and expand current business, including participation in estimating and proposals
- Work with Power System Engineering supervisors for resource management optimization.
- Interact with clients
- Serve as project manager or project engineer as needed
- Responsible for project bill rate establishment and utilization of your staff.
- Work closely with your staff to understand technical gaps and provide training opportunities to fill those gaps.
- Responsible for timesheet and expense approvals of your staff.
- Participate with the hiring manager in the recruiting process including interviewing and onboarding of new employees.
- Participate in the preparation of proposals, schedules, and budget estimates for client activities.
- Participate with your Director in overseeing and expanding the workload of existing clients.
- Participate with your Director in new client pursuits.
- Responsible for the coordination & planning of assignments, ensuring that projects for which you supervise meet resource requirements, budget, and schedule.
- As project Manager, ensure performance objectives are being met, proper document management is being implemented, and the quality process is being followed.
- Act as a subject matter expert by applying knowledge of industry standards and electrical engineering principles specific to both transmission and distribution system studies. Provide QAQC support for projects when required.
- Bachelor of Science or Technology degree in Engineering (Electrical)
- Registered Professional Engineer preferred
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years' experience leading a team of professional and technical staff within an engineering environment in power systems engineering field
- 15 years of proven work experience in power system operations or planning with emphasis on analysis and studies.
- 5 years of Project Engineering experience
- Demonstrates the ability to make decisions quickly, juggle multiple tasks, communicate in a clear and concise manner, and provide effective leadership
- Demonstrates high levels of integrity
- Experience using CYME, Synergi, Milsoft WindMil, and ASPEN is a must
- Distribution Planning Studies including Load Flow, Short Circuit, Stability, Distributed Generation, Hosting Capacity, Protection and Coordination, System Impact, Feasibility, Reliability and Operational
- Must demonstrate technical capabilities to effectively perform the job duties and responsibilities
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage an audience
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must possess excellent organizational skills
- Will be required to travel (as required)

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
