Overview
Summary:
TRC, one of the Nations' most capable engineering service firms is currently seeking a Chief Engineer for the Transmission Engineering Operations. The individual selected will oversee technical operations for the transmission engineering practice and operate as a technical leader of Transmission Engineer Subject Matter Experts (SME). The successful applicant will have responsibility for technical leadership and oversight of the Transmission Engineering Practice, along with supporting proposal development, and financial performance of the practice as needed. The role also includes working with clients to develop business opportunities or the strengthening of existing relationships.
General Description of Position:
As a technical leader of the transmission engineering team, you will be working closely with the SME Manager for supporting the direction, coaching and mentoring to a team of transmission experts, as they support the entire practice for the quality and delivery of the work. Support management representation, as needed to clients and develop the relationship of trust to enable TRC to support their growing needs.
Responsibilities
- Required to lead, develop and foster an innovative and collaborative work environment within TRC's Transmission Engineering practice.
- Lead and mentor a team of professional and technical staff.
- Support the ongoing development of the TLE Quality Management Plan (QMP).
- Coordination with each project team for compliance with QMP, ensuring that all projects meet technical performance objectives and quality.
- Responsible for managing and developing formal Transmission Qualification (Qual Card) program to support operational Supervisors with their employee assessment needs.
- Support for managing and developing formal Transmission Engineering technical training program to support operational Supervisors with their employee training needs.
- Act as a subject matter expert by applying knowledge of industry standards and civil / electrical engineering design principles specific to Overhead and Underground utility transmission systems.
- Involvement in the recruitment and retention of technical and professional staff.
- Develop discipline specific engineering and technical standards, practices, procedures and techniques.
- Develop a thorough understanding of regional Client standards, procedures, requirements, and staffing needs for leveraging TRC resources.
- Support operational supervisors and managers whose resources are assigned to execute Client projects are educated in and executing to all of the Client and TRC requirements by providing information, training, review, QA/QC support, and mentoring.
- Support sales efforts to attract new business and expand current business, including participation in estimating and proposals.
- Provide input and direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions as required.
- Manage relationships with existing customers within the Power Delivery operations area and alliance partners.
- Participate in strategic planning and business center management team initiatives
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field (MS Preferred)
- Civil or Structural required for Chief - Civil
- Electrical required for Chief - Electrical
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Highly experienced as a utility engineer (20 years preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions quickly, juggle multiple tasks, communicate in a clear and concise manner, and provide effective leadership
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage an audience
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must possess excellent organizational skills
- Will be required to travel (as required).

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
