Overview:


Our Client, a leading global private equity investment manager with over $25 billion of equity capital under management, is looking to hire a fund accountant to join its growing finance team in midtown Manhattan. This role requires candidates to work from the office a minimum of 3 days a week. This role will work with the firm's real estate finance team in NYC and reports to the team CFO. The firm has over 300 investment professionals throughout the U.S., Europe and South America. The funds invest in across the capital stack. All in comp to $130k is possible depending on a candidate's experience.

The candidate will be intimately involved with assisting in the execution of the day-to-day accounting operations as well as the quarterly accounting close and financial reporting processes related to the real estate equity and debt funds. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in high profile projects building out the accounting and operational infrastructure of the platform to become world class.


The selected candidate will work with teams across the organization, including the Investment, Operations, Valuation, Tax, Investor Services, Treasury, and Capital Markets Teams, in carrying out the accounting, financial, and investor reporting responsibilities. This will provide the candidate with a broad range of exposure to different aspects of the business and create great networking opportunities.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for managing the accounting as well as the preparation and approval of the quarterly financial reports, and compliance and investor reporting for all assigned Funds.
  • Work closely with the Investment and Operations teams on a daily basis to ensure the books and records are accurate.
  • Participate in monitoring all investments and analyze the related performance; Engage directly with the investment and origination professionals to handle investor inquiries.
  • Work closely with the third-party fund administrator on the financials, operations and reporting of the real estate funds. Ensure their personnel are a successful extension of our team. This will provide everyone with opportunities to further expand their career.
  • Preparation and review of call/distribution notices, credit line draw/paydown/other notices, partner capital statements and quarterly investor letters and liaise with Investor Services team in the distribution of such deliverables and in preparing responses to periodic investor requests/questions.
  • Assist in the quarterly review of the Valuation process relating to assigned Funds’ portfolio investments.


Requirements & Qualifications:


  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience working with or auditing private equity funds, ideally funds focused on real estate private equity investments.
  • Ability to engage directly with senior members of the team as well as with external parties.
  • Effective and self-motivated problem solver – demonstrating strong critical reasoning, analytical and detail-oriented attributes; Be able to think “out of the box”
  • Positive attitude with a team player mentality
  • Strong Excel/VBA skills.
  • Undergraduate or Post-Graduate degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Prior REIT experience – a plus.
  • Solid understanding of Investment Company financial reporting required.
  • Experience with real estate equity and debt instruments preferred.
  • Knowledge or exposure to Investran and/or Virtual Portfolio Manager (“VPM”) or similar portfolio accounting system – a plus.

Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
