What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underwriting Program Manager position at Trean Corporation?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will use their expert level underwriting knowledge, analytical skills, and customer service to support the company’s existing program business. The Underwriting Program Manager will promote and build strong working relationships with internal and external underwriting units, IT, Regulatory/Compliance, Business Development and Partner Relations. They will work collaboratively with these teams to review and respond to underwriting opportunities, issues, and processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Complete underwriting due diligence on new potential program partners.
- Assist partner relations with the onboarding and implementation of new programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with programs to ensure alignment with company goals and operational standards.
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines for new and existing program partners.
- Home office consultant to external partners on underwriting programs: Including Home Office approval on account referrals outside the authority of external partners.
- Collaboration with program auditors on annual audits and develop recommendations and action plans to address issues discovered.
- Work with IT, Stat Reporting and Accounting teams to integrate program data into systems seamlessly.
- Conduct regular reviews of program performance to ensure profitable underwriting results and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on program outcomes and performance.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of property casualty underwriting experience, preferably in Senior level Underwriting or Manager role.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, PPT, Word, PDF, PowerBI, and policy rating and issuance systems.
- Understanding of commercial insurance products and has the willingness to learn about new insurance developments, trends, and products.
- Exceptional communication skills and business acumen are necessary.
- Must be a self-starter with proven analytical skills and the ability to operate independently, escalating items as necessary.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a commitment to honesty, integrity, and unwavering business ethics.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers and external partners.
- Knowledge of or experience with fronted program business preferred.
- Continuing insurance industry designations beneficial. (i.e. AINS, CPCU, AU)
- Ability to travel up to 10%.

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
