POSITION TITLE: Casual Dining Server JOB CODE: 222252
DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage
REPORTS TO: Casual Dining Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The server is the communication link between the guest and the kitchen. It is important that you know the menu and can answer guest questions. Think of yourself as a salesperson. Knowing and performing the full sequence of service, side work, and additional duties.
TASKS:
1. Ensure that our guests receive prompt, friendly and personalized service.
2. Solve our guests’ needs by offering food and beverage items.
3. Act as a final check on the quality of food and beverage items before they are served.
4. Assist management in maintaining standards by reporting any problems in your surroundings
(i.e. are floors, tables, and service station clean? Are all guest happy?)
5. Perform all assigned opening/running/closing duties.
6. Clear tables of all used plates, glassware, debris, etc. Table maintenance is the server’s
responsibility. Treat your station as if it were your home.
7. Assist the service bartender by ringing up beverage orders accurately and ordering all drinks
efficiently and correctly.
8. Assist the dishwasher by racking glasses properly, continuously re-stocking clean plates and
glasses (as applicable)
9. Assist the kitchen expediter, cooks, and outside expediter by ringing orders accurately and
by correctly filling out re-cook requests.
10. Deliver all food and beverage (yours and others) in an expedient manner.
11. Present and collect all checks and give to cashier for closing out. Thank guest for joining us
and invite back.
EDUCATION OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
High School Graduate or GED equivalent. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand primary languages(s) used by the guest who typically visits the work location. SERVER EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Be able to perform duties which require standing and/or moving throughout a crowded restaurant at a fast pace for periods up to eight (8) hours or longer if needed. Have ability to maneuver swiftly up and down stairs though crowded dining bar and expo areas. Be able to lift, balance, and deliver food and drinks on trays (weighing up to 25lbs) and deliver to tables in a timely manner. Be able to perform duties which require speed, efficiency, and organizational skills. Be capable of performing duties which require bending, kneeling, lifting, reaching, and carrying trays, bins and tubs (weighing up to 25lbs). Be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to all guests and staff members in all conditions. Be able to re-stock shelves which may require the lifting and carrying of boxes and containers (weighing up to 25lbs), and the stowage of the boxes by bending, kneeling, and reaching. Be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of computerized point of sales system and the handling of all forms of money.
