What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Mental health Nurse Practitioner -Internship position at Treasure Health?
-Develop and demonstrate clinical skills through simulations, and hands-on practice in supervised settings.
-Participate in patient assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and management under the supervision of a licensed nurse practitioner.
-Work collaboratively with healthcare teams, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care.
-Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options and preventative care.
-Follow healthcare facilities policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines, including maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring informed consent.
-Attend and participate in bi-weekly multidisciplinary meetings.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform nursing care duties as required in the client’s care plan and in accord with NPA standards.
- Be fully familiar with the needs of the assigned client.
- Develop a good rapport with the client and the client’s family.
- Maintain current updated client records. Implement, evaluate and document the treatment of clients in accordance with Agency and Departmental policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice.
· Obtain patient’s history and medical information
· Provides physical care and carries out therapeutic and medical regimen
· Complete assessment on reports and record vital signs and measurements
· Collect specimens
· Prepare patients for continuing care after treatment
· Training and retraining of patients and patient’s family
Qualifications Requirements for the Registered Nurse:
Must be a professional nurse with a current BSN/RN unrestricted license in Maryland. Must be enrolled in a Master's Program. Current CPR/BLS certificate; Minimum of 2 years experience in the nursing field. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently and to supervise subordinate staff that may be assigned; demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
