The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.
The Chronic Disease Prevention Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in a disease prevention program.
Responsibilities
This is a part-time position averaging 3-5 hours weekly. Current class opportunities are between 9am and noon, Monday through Friday. Specific class-training will be provided.

Responsibilities
- Develop intentional relationships and, using the Y voice attributes, create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants that helps them meet the two Cause Measurement goals for adults.
- Use the class platform to educate and inform participants about the Y Cause and other Y program offerings.
- Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance. Follow fitness trends and utilize prescribed formats when applicable.
- Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.
- Provide excellent delivery of disease prevention program to all members.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Current Training Certification specific to class(es) being taught and either a Group Exercise or Personal Trainer certification as required of specific program.
- Experience teaching Group Exercise or Personal Trainer (one Year minimum preferred).
- Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

- CPR/AED. Prerequisite of hire - 14-day compliance period.
- HIPAA training required in the first 10 days of employment.
