Summary This position is located at Departmental Offices, Management CFO - Information Systems and Chief Information Officer. As a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN), you will provide leadership and expert advice in planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. Responsibilities As a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN), you will : - Plan and schedule the installation of new or specialized hardware, operating systems, and applications software. - Manage accounts, network rights, and access to extensive, complex systems and equipment. - Provide Systems Administration and engineering support for The DO IT Network (DOIT), and assist in design, installation, operations and maintenance of all DOIT components. Requirements Conditions of Employment Key Requirements : Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws. A review of financial or other interests may be conducted to determine if they create any real or apparent conflict of interests with official Treasury duties. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Qualifications You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-14 : You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies / knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience for this position includes : Performing systems support such as designing, implementing and supporting software applications in a multitier architecture. Examples of this may include the following : - Hardware / server configuration maintenance including documentation, identifying problems and developing corrective actions and identifying IT related problems and developing corrective actions.; AND - Expertise and experience acting as the Service Owner and single point of accountability for development, delivery, support and technical expertise for assigned services; AND - Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with senior staff, information systems professionals or non-technical users. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail : Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service : Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication : Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving : Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. TIME-IN-GRADE : In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable : For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks. TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT : Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
