About the role
Frank Family Vineyards in Calistoga, California is seeking an enologist to support the winemaking team in all aspects of the winery by acting as conduit between the winemaking and cellar teams. This is a self-motivated, hands-on position which consists of cellar work, lab analysis, and general back up support to all teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Lab
- Create and maintain routine sampling schedules, collect, and prepare samples for analysis and tastings
- Create and maintain routine calibration schedule for various equipment (Autotitrator, DO meters, etc.)
- Perform and coordinate all routine in house and third-party laboratory analysis as needed
- Update and maintain all laboratory data in accurate and timely manner via various systems.
- Monitor results, and report on wine condition and status; review analytical data and alert when winemaking action is required
- Serve as QC technician during bottling by performing analysis and maintaining key records
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and general working area
Winemaking
- Assist in harvest planning and fermentation data management; responsible for coordinating daily fermentation sampling , tank-top sensory checks , and pump over rounds
- Monitoring inventory and maintaining health and quality of wine throughout general life cycle
- Coordinate wine needs and priorities with winemakers; assist with work order generation
- Assist blending activities to ensure production is on schedule; communicate risk to meeting bottling demand
- Organize, set-up, and actively participate in inventory tastings
- Create and maintain topping schedules and workorders on barrels
- Assure that bulk stored wines are in topped tanks with adequate SO2 levels and at appropriate storage temperatures
- Support HACCP needs through monthly audits, trainings, etc.
- Prepare and implement experiments as directed by winemaking team
Cellar
- Assist in physical demands of cellar and provide a “winemaker’s lens” to cellar activities
- Support cellar team in full range of cellar activities from harvest to bottling including sampling for analysis, blending sessions, topping, racking fruit processing, additions, fermentation management, pressing, general cellar work during ageing and post crush clean up
- Assist in all operations where needed Assist with mobile bottling line & various bottling needs
About you
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required:
- Degree in Enology or related science; or equivalent combination of related science degree and experience considered
- Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills: written and verbal communication skills
- General computer skills in application software (MS Office, Word, Excel) required ·
- Strong analytical, problem-solving ability · Must be team-oriented; self-motivated & able to effectively work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to adapt and be flexible within a changing work environment ·
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization ·
- Ability to create a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with clients, customers, co-workers, and management
- Willing to work overtime when necessary ·
- Must be able to consistently make accurate math calculations ·
- Read and understand cellar operations requests · Must be able to read and write in the English language fluently ·
- Forklift certification/experience is a preferred
- Physical ability to lift & move 50lbs; standing for long periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $25 - $30 per hour and other benefits. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of our Calistoga location. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
