Manager, Music Content & Label Relations

Based in the US - NY or LA area


The Role:

We are seeking a well-rounded and dynamic Manager, Music Content & Label Relations. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the musical landscape of our platform. This individual will lead the editorial strategy, work closely with artists, managers, and labels, and be responsible for enhancing user engagement and retention. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical and possess an entrepreneurial ability to try new and different things with minimal direction. He/she is passionate about music, has a deep understanding of the digital music ecosystem, and possesses strong relationships within the music industry.


You will report directly to the President and collaborate with counterparts across product, engineering, monetization and social media to ensure our platform remains fresh, engaging, and aligned with our key performance metric goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an editorial strategy that highlights emerging trends, artists, and genres, keeping the platform fresh and engaging, with the goal of driving repeat app usage.
  • Manage a content programming team across four countries and that has depth of knowledge and expertise in all key genres (local and international).
  • Develop and maintain a dashboard for artists and record labels to track performance metrics and enable self-serve advertising within our app.
  • Secure and execute paid campaigns from record labels for content placement in our app. Create presentations for labels that summarize campaign performance and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Collaborate with an overseas engineer to ensure complete content delivery from record labels in compliance with our licensing agreements.
  • Create and deliver presentations to educate record labels about our service and demonstrate the value we provide.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, and record labels. Collaborate with them to amplify their presence on the platform and ensure they are sharing content linking back to TREBEL to enhance our growth and visibility.
  • Identify new opportunities to generate revenue from creators that seek to benefit from our platform.
  • Execute social media campaigns in the United States that encourage sharing of content by TREBEL from prominent artists and creators.
  • Determine the metrics and analytics that best inform our music programming. Analyze user behavior and implement strategies to enhance the overall user experience.
  • Work closely with the marketing, product, and analytics teams to ensure a cohesive and impactful approach to content and user engagement.
  • Share expertise and best practices globally.
  • Become an evangelist for TREBEL and represent us at occasional music industry events.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in music content management, artist relations, or a related field within the music industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Passion for music and a keen ear for emerging trends.
  • Extensive network within the music industry, including relationships with artists, managers, and labels.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Deep understanding of the digital music landscape and user engagement strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Open to the changing daily priorities necessitated by a startup.
  • Self-starter, with a bias toward action and execution. Ability to act autonomously with limited supervision, instilled with a sense of urgency for projects large and small.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with an understanding that hours of work and location of duties may vary based on need.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends from home, as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to travel, as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with music streaming/downloading platforms or digital media companies.
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth company is preferred.
  • Experience with Confluence, Figma, and Discord.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English.
