GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Quality assurance manager helps to establish the company’s quality regulations for their products and employees. They will develop and maintain the company’s quality standards and design, implement, and improve the company’s current quality standards. They will explore possible grown areas through their analysis and assessments. The Quality Assurance Manager will assist in the recruiting process as well as train, motivate, coach, and correct company employees to ensure they meet standards. They will be responsible for creating reports to track employee progress and formulate strategies that increase productivity, and review processes to align them with current trends. They will prepare documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends at the company, including stability studies, recalls, and corrective actions taken.
Project Description: The proposed Project involves the conversion of Biomass to Biochar and aims to significantly expand the Biomass to various carbon-negative programs. This conversion process enhances forest health, reduces wildfire risks, and improves air quality by utilizing agricultural waste. The Biomass will be collected mostly in the San Joaquin Valley, which is where the Tule River Indian Tribe is located. The process in which the conversion will occur is through Pyrolysis, where decomposition is brought about by high temperatures of organic waste in an oxygen-free environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Devise procedures to inspect and report quality issues to the Plant Manager.
- Monitor all operations that affect quality.
- Develop a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for a biomass to biochar project.
- Develop a Quality Management Plan (QMP) for the project.
- Support implementation of cost, quality, and service improvement initiatives.
- Provide internal training to ensure QA standards are taught and implemented.
- Authorize changes in procedures to help minimize product waste.
- Assure the reliability and consistency of production by checking processes and final output.
- Supervise and guide inspectors, technicians and other staff.
- Report all malfunctions to Plant Manager to ensure immediate action.
- Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analyzing quality data.
- Review current standards and policies.
- Keep records of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation.
- Ensure all legal standards are met.
- Communicate with external quality assurance officers during on-site inspections.
- Estimate testing efforts, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities.
- Lead investigation teams and ensure proper close out and follow up.
- Review all documentation and monitor data.
- Display understanding of the project's value proposition for the customer.
- Authorize changes in procedures to help minimize product waste.
- Maintain and update local, state, and federal programs.
- Control and distribute work instructions, forms, and logs in all departments.
- Actively support escalated issues from both internal and external customers.
- Develop others and ensure training and learning of team members.
- Manage the design and implementation of site policies and procedures.
- Review complaints, concerns or questions relative to compliance issues.
- Responsible for coordination, implementation, and maintenance of QA program.
- Make decisions independently and notify management of action taken.
- Develop and maintain cooperative and courteous relationships with fellow employees,
- Participate in design, code and test plan reviews as needed and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analyzing quality data.
- Communicate with external quality assurance officers during on-site inspections
- All other duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in quality management, Engineering, or related field. Preferably in the AG industry.
- Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or similar certification.
- Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
- Strong background in statistical analysis and quality control techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Experience in manufacturing or production environments.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.
- 3-5 years of experience in quality management or quality control roles.
- Proficiency in quality assurance software and tools.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems and standards.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent planning, organizing, and training skills.
- Demonstrated ability to run an efficient and quality operation.
- Ability to maintain budgets and business plans.
- Must successfully complete and pass background check.
- Must have a valid California driver license and be insurance through company insurance throughout employment in this position.
- Must successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
