What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lawn & Snow Maintenance Technician position at Tree Trust?
Job Purpose: To provide high-quality, efficient, safe, and timely services for Tree Trust clients, ensuring their satisfaction with our performance.
Job Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the Property Maintenance team in daily operations involving commercial and residential property maintenance, quality control and safety. Assists in the completion of all landscape maintenance projects. Projects to include mowing, spring/fall cleanups, shrub and tree pruning, aeration, plantings, mulching, landscape bed enhancements and snow removal. This role may also support our Tree Care or Landscape Construction departments as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Assists a crew in the delivery of all lawn maintenance services including mowing, line trimming, leaf pickup, lawn edging, aerating, shrub pruning, etc.
- Assists in general tree care (pruning, removal, vegetation management) during winter months
- Assists in snow removal which may include truck, skid and/or snowblower operation
- Assists in job preparation including loading of tools, equipment, and materials
- Helps organize worksites for efficiency and safety; adheres to all Tree Trust safety policies and procedures
- Maintains facility grounds by ensuring a well-organized and clean workspace including vehicles, trailers, and equipment
- Strictly adhere to Tree Trust’s safety policies and procedures
- Receives openly all trainings including safety, equipment use, technique, etc.
- Always represents the company’s best interest, maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism
- Maintains a clean and safe job site
- Maintains and cares for your personal or company provided equipment, tools, and vehicles
- Works as part of a team and takes direction
- Understands and meets contract scheduled deadlines without sacrificing quality or customer service
- Keeps accurate timesheet records, submitted for review and signoff by the required deadlines
- Performs other tasks or projects as assigned by Tree Trust managers
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver license and a clean driving record as determined by our insurance carrier
- Must be able to pass a criminal background and motor vehicle check
- Must possess and maintain MN DOT medical certificate within fifteen (15) days of hire
- Pesticide applicators license or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude and work well within a team
- Must be able to take work direction and work well under pressure within a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Must be teachable, trainable and project a proactive attitude-always looking for the next way to find solutions
- Must have strong communication skills and be an effective listener
- Must be reliable, possess a positive attitude and be able to work independently
- Must be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Punctual and dependable with a can-do attitude
- Ability to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED; Degree in horticulture or similar field
- One (1) year experience in property maintenance
- Experience operating a variety of mowers, gas-powered tools, truck and trailer, plows etc.
- Knowledge of horticulture best practices
- Experience with chainsaws, pole saws, power tools etc.
- Experience in heavy equipment operation such as skid steers and front-end loaders
Work Environment: Job will require constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in construction industries.
Physical Demands: Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to perform work. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials. Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear.
