This is a temporary position from May - July. The salary for this position is set at $25.69 per hour and is not eligible for benefits.
Position Summary:
As part of the Material Resource team, the Store Assistant supports daily operations in Treehouse’s free retail space. This is an opportunity to work directly with Treehouse staff, donors, volunteers, and clients and ensure the needs of each stakeholder are being met. Creative, detail-oriented, and personable, the Store Assistant provides outstanding customer service to shoppers, processes incoming donations, and supports fulfillment of online requests for basic needs.
Essential Functions:
- Process, print and fulfill online store orders.
- Respond to client inquiries via phone and email.
- Sort, assess, tag, and organize donated inventory.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a clean, organized and functional space throughout the Store.
- Assist with volunteer task assignment and support.
- Conduct weekly inventory assessments.
- Check clients into and out of the Store providing excellent customer service throughout their experience in the space.
- Engage with volunteers, setting a welcoming, positive, and professional tone for interactions within the space.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
- Part-time
- Typical schedule of 25-30 hours per week. Saturdays 8:30-2:30 required, and remaining hours can be negotiated as desired within: Tuesday – Friday 8:30-5:00.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Mental Requirements – Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to remain poised under all circumstances, and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that creates confidence and trust.
- Physical Requirements – long periods of standing on concrete, moving to various work areas, talking on the phone, working with office/computer equipment, attending meetings and being at desk or table while listening, talking and taking notes. Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 25 lbs. while handling donations and inventory.
