GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB :
Prepares metal and other surfaces on aviation ground support equipment for painting. Applies primers, synthetic enamels, polyurethane, and epoxy with spray guns, brushes and rollers to ground support equipment. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES :
Prepares various surfaces of interior and exterior components of equipment, vehicles by mechanically and chemically removing old paint and rust, filling cracks, sanding, and applying fillers and base coats.
Mixes, thins, blends, matches, tints, and tones coating materials.
Applies coating materials using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other means of application.
Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
Uses and maintains tools.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
High School diploma or GED plus one (1) year experience and / or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience operating standard spray paint equipment : buffers, paint guns, sanding equipment, dual action orbital sander and common hand tools.
Must have your own tools.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position .
Must be able to work a variety of assigned shifts including evenings and weekends. Subject to emergency call-in.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment. Must be able to carry 70-pounds; must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time. Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Airport environment : Generally, Indoors. Occasionally could be Outdoors.
