Summary
Sets up and operates extrusion equipment in Production to produce tubing/hose and profiles.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Extrusion Technician 1:
- Set-ups and tear downs of extrusion lines including essential paperwork
- Starts extrusion lines and adjusts process to meet specifications.
- Communicates with Manufacturing Engineer on all tool damage and wear
- Extruder and line cleaning and inspection, including tooling.
- Runs extrusion line if necessary.
- Basic trouble shooting techniques to bring product back to specification.
Extrusion Technician 2:
- Trains operators in line operation and inspection.
- Advanced trouble shooting techniques.
- Can identify root cause of extrusion problems and fix, ie material, equipment, process
- Performs simple maintenance of equipment
- Does not need supervision to run entire process and complete extrusion orders
- Completes all paperwork with minimal to no errors.
Extrusion Technician 3:
- Trains Extrusion Technician 1.
- Works with NPD to run new product trials
- Works with NPD to create process characterization and solve advanced technical extrusion problems.
- Works with Manufacturing Engineers to determine root cause and solutions.
- Works with Manufacturing Engineers to write up work instructions and assess process stability and cost savings.
Education and Experience
Required:
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Silicone or Plastic extrusion or related experience
Desired:
- Level 1: 2 years Silicone or Plastic Extrusion experience
- Level 2: 5 years Silicone or Plastic Extrusion experience
- Level 3: 10 years Extrusion, set-up and training experience
- Level 3: Technical college degree
