What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Principal/Activities Director position at Trenton High School?
Qualifications: Certification by the Missouri State Department of Education.
Reports to: Building Principal
Supervises: Students of the District and Coaching Staff
Goal: To establish and maintain a safe, orderly environment conductive to the educational process and provide all students with educational opportunities beyond the regular classroom through extra curricular activities and athletics and enrich the curriculum through interscholastic competition.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as building administrator in the event of administrative absences.
- Attend and supervise school activities, athletics and events.
- Handle student discipline issues.
- Supervise detentions.
- Recommend, manage, and evaluate coaching staff.
- Oversee the general management of and provide direction for activities and athletics programs, including summer programs.the
- Prepare and administer the student activities budget.
- Promote student participation.
- Approve and order needed supplies, equipment and uniforms.
- Maintain a master calendar of activities for the District.
- Schedule all contests and games.
- Hire all officials and workers needed for contests and games.
- Maintain accurate school records.
- Work cooperatively with coaching staff to secure transportation to contest/activities.
- Plan and organize all recognition banquets for activities/athletics.
- Work cooperatively with booster clubs
- Ensure that facilities and equipment are used safely and efficiently.
- Develop recommendations for future activities/athletics issues, contracts, equipment and personnel based on changing needs of the District.
- Keep the Superintendent informed on the progress and condition of the District.
- Keep accurate inventory of equipment and supplies with implementing a replacement/maintenance schedule.
- Attend all appropriate meetings.
- Complete all necessary reports and paperwork.
- Serve as the official representative of the building.
- Execute all policies, rules and regulations adopted by the Board.
- Make decisions for the best interest of the District and within Board policies and CSIP objectives.
- Promote positive relations between the building, District Board and community.
- Work to achieve District goals adopted by the Board.
- Establish and maintain a positive learning climate in the building.
- Maintain active relations with students, staff, parents and community.
- Assist with teacher in-service.
- Assist with emergency drills.
- Cooperate with agencies and institutions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Board.
Terms of employment: Contract to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Annually by the Superintendent and Building Principal in accordance with policy.
