Responsibilities
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times
- Align and implement District-approved curriculum
- Assess student progress on a regular basis
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials
- Create a positive learning environment through displays and interest centers
- Keep accurate records and prepare progress reports
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means
- Participate in professional development activities
- Attend required meetings
- Select and inventory appropriate books and instructional aids
- Supervise students during the workday
- Work cooperatively with other staff members
- Supervise paraprofessionals if assigned
- Prepare for class and provide written evidence as requested
- Make referrals of students when necessary
- Manage classroom behaviors appropriately
- Maintain and improve professional competence
- Respect student privacy and confidentiality
- Keep the building principal informed of relevant issues
- Promote positive relations between the building, district, board, and community
- Work towards achieving district goals adopted by the Board
- Execute all policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the Board
Terms of Employment
The contract will be established by the Board and generally lasts 182 days. Annual evaluations will be conducted by the Building Principal in accordance with policy. A criminal fingerprint/background clearance is required.
