JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher PreK-12 for 2025-2026 School Year
Term of Employment: Two Hundred (200) Days Contract
Immediate Supervisor: Special Populations Supervisor
Qualifications: Masters Degree
Valid Tennessee License with English as a Second Language PreK-12 Endorsement
Evaluation: Conducted by the building level administrators and Central Office supervisory staff.

- Have the ability to understand and follow instructions precisely

- Have the ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without the loss of efficiency or composure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
- Administers tests and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student language ability.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Instructs English learner students for the purpose of improving their success in academics and skills.
- Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and to optimize student learning.
- Prepares a variety of written materials and correspondence for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
- Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to:
- In case of an emergency, must be able to lift or assist in lifting a student in need
- Work outdoors in any variety of weather
- Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping
- Have mobility required to ensure the safety of students
- Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of students
- Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities
