VACANCY DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Bus Driver Substitute
Terms of Employment: As Need Basis
Immediate Supervisor: Transportation Supervisor
Qualifications/Preferences: High School Diploma or GED
CDL Endorsement preferred, but will train if the driver does not have a CDL Endorsement
Meet health, mental, and physical requirements
FBI/TBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance every five (5) years
Skills:
Be a mature individual
Have the ability to conform to an established work schedule
Have effective interpersonal skills
Have the ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner
Have the ability to understand and follow instructions precisely
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Operate and transport school-aged children and other authorized personnel safely and efficiently over specified routes to and from school and various activities
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Abides by all local, state, and federal traffic laws, rules, and regulations
Transports students over specified routes according to time scheduled
Maintains appropriate student conduct when students are on the bus and reports any student misconduct to the principal
Performs daily mechanical checks on oil, gas, tires, lights, and doors
Reports needed repairs to the Bus Garage
Cleans bus daily
Reports all accidents promptly and complete required reports
Assumes responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job
Checks the bus at the end of each run to ensure that all students have left the bus
Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor
Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the District at all times

Must have the ability to:
In case of an emergency must be able to lift or assist in lifting a student in need
Work outdoors in a variety of weather
Climb up and down stairs
Have mobility required to ensure the safety of children
Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping
Lift 75 to 100 lbs
