Trevor Day School is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletics for the 2025–2026 school year. This dynamic leader will be integrally involved in all aspects of the interscholastic athletic program, providing administrative and operational support for the daily athletic activities of the Trevor Dragons. The Assistant Director of Athletics reports directly to the Director of Athletics. This position is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position.
Trevor has various teams at the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity levels. A large percentage of our students participate in interscholastic athletics, an essential part of their Trevor experience and education. We are a member of the New York City Athletic League (NYCAL), which operates within the NYSAIS Athletic Association. Our teams and student-athletes compete successfully at the league, city, and state levels. Trevor has state-of-the-art athletic facilities, including three gyms and training areas with fitness equipment. Trevor’s close proximity to Randall's Island provides easy access to outdoor fields.

Responsibilities include:
- Set up systems and procedures to support the department’s daily operations.
- Assist with team roster management and attendance.
- Assist with management of the athletic budget.
- Help maintain and communicate seasonal and daily schedules such as:
- Daily/weekly transportation schedules to and from off-campus practices and competitions.
- Confirmations of game/practice locations, opponents, officials, academic dismissal schedules, and transportation release forms.
- Ensure staffing for home games and supervise when needed.
- Provide leadership to coaching staff and serve as coach, as needed.
- Assist with updating athletic coaches handbook and creating/updating athletic department policies and processes, as needed.
- Assist with recruitment, training, and supervision of coaches.
- Assist with ordering and maintenance of athletic apparel, uniforms, and equipment.
- Oversee livestreaming platform (Hudl) and educate coaches on proper usage.
- Provide mentoring to our student-athletes.
- Communicate proactively with families and remain accessible to them.
- Monitor Upper School Open Gym sessions throughout the day.
- Work closely with external facilities to reserve spaces for practices and competitions.
- Continuously improve and ensure adherence to Trevor policies and procedures.
- Build strong relationships with other schools, NYCAL, and NYSAIS, ensuring compliance with league regulations.
- Work with the Facilities & Operations Department to maintain playing spaces.
- Assist with planning and executing Homecoming, Lower School Clinics, and other special events that bring the community together through athletics.
- Assist with internal and external communications regarding athletics, in partnership with the Marketing and Communications Department.
- Complete all other administrative duties, as requested by the Director of Athletics.
- Opportunities to coach at various levels and engage with the Trevor academic community outside of athletics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in either coaching and/or athletics administration.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
- Knowledge of NYCAL and NYSAIS is preferred, but not required.
- Proven ability to form strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

The full-time salary range for this position is $70,000–$110,000. When extending an offer for employment, Trevor Day School bases the salary upon several factors that include (but are not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, key skills, and peer salary equity.
