What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Summer Internship Program - Data Science position at Trex Brand?
Trex Company, the world’s number one decking and railing brand, and leader in high-performance, low-maintenance outdoor living products, is seeking a Data Science Intern to take part in our summer internship program. The Intern can expect to:
- Gain hands-on practical experience in data science in a complex manufacturing environment
- Optimize equipment and finished good production using data analytics and machine learning
- Collecting real-time process data to produce recommendations for process parameters
- Conduct root cause analysis
- Write Python script
- Create Power Bi dashboards
- Conduct data acquisition, data preprocessing, and predictive model building
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited degree program in computer science, chemical engineering or related field. The ideal candidate needs to have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines. This person should be consistently focused on improving Trex’s business needs.
Required Skills:
- Basic programing skills in python
- Hands-on approach to problem solving
- Must be a rising Junior or Senior
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
Preferred Skills:
- Strong understanding of statistics concepts
- Experience using statistics software such as JMP or MiniTab
- Power BI experience
- Experience with Machine Learning Models
