Work Schedule : Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, in-person, at Westshore Campus. The supervisor will work with the candidate of choice to determine a consistent weekly schedule distributing the 20 hours per week across 3 days within the 8 : 30 am -5 pm timeframe.

Job Description : SUMMARY STATEMENT

Provides individual andgroup career development services to a diverse client group, with a focus onserving first-year students (having 30 credit hours or less.) Provideseffective career development and assistance to diverse clientele, coordinatesthe co-op and internship program, and provides proactive employer and campusrelations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • May assist students and alumni with career and job readiness by conducting mock interviews, resume critiques, and provides job search and networking techniques
  • Develops content and conducts workshops and class informational sessions on a variety of topics to include career exploration, resume writing, interviewing, internships / job search strategies, networking tactics and ethics in the workplace
  • Designs and delivers comprehensive career development services leveraging the College's educational support systems and provides linkages to the post-secondary and College credentials, academic and technical training programs, academic counseling, workforce preparation, and adult literacy competency
  • Provides individual coaching to students to create customized, long-term career development plans, develop key competencies necessary to make informed decisions, and take the necessary steps to achieve their career goals
  • Partners with the Career Placement Specialists and faculty to identify potential employers that may provide co-op, internship, and part-time employment opportunities for students
  • Supports student success and engagement efforts at the campus by involvement in enrollment activities, retention initiatives, and other campus events and co-sponsorship opportunities with campus divisions and counterparts
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with faculty, and, upon their request, facilitates a Career Center overview of services and resources to academic program classes as a marketing and communications vehicle
  • Represents Tri-C Career Center to a wide variety of community organizations, professional associations, government agencies, non-profit entities, and partners in higher education that provides a professional presence supporting the College's marketing brand
  • Gathers and reports data for the Career Center regarding coaching appointments, classroom presentations, workshops and co-op / internships and placements
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / TRAINING

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Significant related experience may substitute for education

  • Minimum of one years of demonstrated experience in a diverse and progressively accountable role related to K-12 education, higher education, talent acquisition, staffing / placement, employee development, career coaching / consulting, and / or fields related to career development services
  • Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
  • Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Possess working knowledge of career services concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
  • Ability to proficiently use a variety of internet tools and social networking sites as an employment sourcing tool
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing work environment requiring flexibility, sense of urgency

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands / fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type.However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
  • Special Note : This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining UnitPosition, Grade 10, with a Minimum Hiring Rate of : $24.00 / hour.
