Tri-City Mental Health Authority is looking for a Bilingual Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) within our Therapeutic Community Garden (TCG) who will facilitate/co-facilitate Therapeutic Community Garden (TCG) groups, community outreach, curriculum development, participate in community events and presentations, garden events and establish relationships and collaborate with outside agencies. Will provide behavioral health support services to individuals in need of and requesting behavioral health services for both adults and children. The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) will report to the Clinical Program Manager.
This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Facilitate and/or co-facilitate therapeutic support groups in a garden setting and virtually using mindfulness techniques;
- Perform community outreach internally and externally;
- Create and develop curriculum for the TCG Program;
- Contribute to monthly program report writing;
- Process incoming and outgoing referrals for TCG;
- Work on a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery;
- Create and develop TCG workshops for the community;
- Assist in maintaining data related to activities performed by TCG team
- Maintain records of all activities relating to client care and adhere to billing standards.
- Will complete garden related tasks in the garden such as planting, weeding, watering and harvesting;
- Perform other duties as assigned, etc.
Ideal Candidate
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or similar human service oriented degree
OR
anAssociate’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice, or related field; with two years of experience working in the mental health field as a specialist in behavioral modification, physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment.
Experience:
- Must have 1-3 years of experience working in a community health or in a mental health setting.
- Experience or knowledge of MHSA programs.
- Candidates must have proficient computer skills.
Candidates must be bilingual in Spanish.
Licenses and Certifications
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word and have experience with Electronic Health Records (i.e. Welligent, Cerner, etc.).
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered as qualifying. *Candidates may be hired above the minimum salary range depending on qualifications (DOQ).
