This position requires an organized, detail-oriented, and personable applicant who wants to work with a first-class professional baseball organization in supporting the health and on-field performance of the Tri-City ValleyCats baseball team.
The Athletic Trainer will work with the coaching staff and front office to ensure that players are ready to play and receive proper treatment in the event of an illness or injury. This position is available to start for Spring Training on April 21st and runs through the remainder of the season and possible playoffs with the ability to travel with the team on the road. The regular season ends on August 31st with potential playoffs to follow.
Responsibilities:
The Athletic Trainer will work with the coaching staff and front office to ensure that players are ready to play and receive proper treatment in the event of an illness or injury. Responsibilities:
- Tape or brace athletes to prevent injuries before games and practices.
- Evaluate injuries, provide treatment or therapy when applicable, and facilitate additional treatment, therapy, rehabilitation, or evaluations through the team’s medical partnerships as needed.
- Give emergency care or first aid.
- Create rehabilitation plans and go through them with injured athletes and coaches.
- Record patient injury, healing, and recovery
- Prepare and process paperwork with coaching staff and front office.
- Assist coaching staff and front office in managing the team’s workers compensation program.
- Assist Field Manager and coaching staff in travel arrangements during road trips.
- Create and facilitate a basic workout program to maintain player health throughout the season.
- Lead the team in pre-game or practice stretching and warmups.
- Assist front office and clubhouse staff in managing training supply inventory.
- Support the team with community outreach and events when applicable.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by the President, General Manager, and Assistant General Manager.
Qualifications:
- Two-years or more of clinical experience
- Certified Athletic Trainer
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training is preferred
- CPR and first aid certification
- Knowledge of baseball and/or sports industry
- Sufficient strength to assist with transferring patients using body mechanics
- Must have required documentation and eligibility to cross the Canadian border.
