What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Program Coordinator position at Tri-County Action Program?
We are looking for a professional, dependable and organized individual to implement our volunteer tax preparation program. This individual should be personable, able to work independently, detail-oriented, a logical thinker and a proactive problem-solver.
Primary responsibilities of this full-time position will include:
*Build community partnerships, conduct outreach and secure program support.
*Recruit, train and support tax program volunteers.
*Oversee management of tax preparation services in compliance with IRS and MN Department of Revenue rules and regulations.
*Manage day to day activities at seasonal tax sites (set up/take down, on-site supervision of volunteer tax preparers and reviewers, managing flow of clients, providing excellent customer service)
*Screen, prepare and review individual federal and state tax returns, property taxes or renters credit returns.
*Assist in program planning, goal setting, evaluation plans, measuring outcomes, and reporting program activities to funders as necessary.
*Assist in grant writing activities and relationship building with potential partners and funders.
Wage range is $21.67-$26.01 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package, including paid holidays, paid personal days, PTO, health/dental/life insurance, employee assistance and 403b retirement savings match, as well as professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
*Minimum of two (2) year degree in accounting, business or related field and three (3) years of relevant work experience, or a combination of five (5) years’ experience and/or education.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain customer personal/financial confidentiality.
*Working knowledge of tax preparation software and ability to pass annual IRS filing exams.
*Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, including experience working with external community groups (public, private, faith-based) to build and maintain professional relationships.
*Must be available to work some evening and weekend hours.
*Must be able to travel throughout the service area.
*Volunteer management experience and bi-lingual status (Somali/Spanish) preferred.
