Job Overview:
The role of the Behavioral Intervention Specialist is to work with our Care Management team to advise on how to best provide support to members with behavioral needs. This is a remote position but may require occasional visits to local offices.
Location: Candidates should live in New York State, or in New Jersey/Connecticut close to the New York border.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Serve as part of the Clinical Team for Person Centered Services.
- Provide case review or audit of individuals with significant behavior issues.
- Review Behavior Service Plans and offer relevant input.
- Serve as a consultant in situations where behavioral intervention expertise is required.
- Review and analyze data and trends.
- Design, implement, and present training as needed.
- Provide case review or audit of individuals with significant behavior issues.
- Participate in mandatory staff meetings.
- Any other duties as deemed relevant by supervisor/organization

- Knowledge of developmental disabilities, mental health, and social determinants of health.
- Ability to teach and lead others while providing medical expertise.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning regulations.

- Demonstrates capacity to use Health Information Technology to facilitate communication.

- Demonstrate a comfort level of engaging with people with behavioral health needs.
Experience:
- Master’s Degree in the field of psychology, social work, or a related field with at least 2 years of experience working with Intellectually and/or Developmentally Disabled individuals
- Licensure preferred related to degree, social work, mental health counseling, or psychology
- Knowledge of OPWDD services and regulations
- Strong computer knowledge
- Familiarity with person-first, person-centered planning concepts
- Experience related to the roles of being an ABA, BCBA, or other behavioral experience
- The license should still reflect an LMSW or LCSW, or LBA
