What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Education Instructor position at Tri-County Community Action Agency?
FULL TIME, 40 HOURS PER WEEK, NORTH PROVIDENCE
General Responsibility: The Adult Education Instructor works in our Employment & Training Department and is responsible for preparing students for: GED, post-secondary education, advanced training, work readiness. Some English language learners will need additional instruction and support. Instructor will support career planning, based on assessment results and student interests.
Specific Responsibilities: Conducting academic & vocational assessments, delivering classroom instruction, conducting ESL/EAL classroom instruction, tutoring, curriculum development, monitoring student hours and progress, tracking student outcomes & performance, utilizing internet-based programs & software, tracking distance learning, and developing alternative learning plans, per the RI compulsory attendance law. Ability to execute a managed enrollment, cohort-based classroom environment for adult learners; ability to identify learning styles and create a positive learning environment; ability to work independently to meet program goals; ability to differentiate instruction and work in a one-to-one settings as necessary; ability to plan collaboratively with case manager and other instructors; previous experience working with at risk, LD population, predominantly aged 16 to 24. Some early evening hours may be required. Must be capable of delivering virtual instruction as necessary, based on student needs.
Qualifications: Bachelors in Education; minimum of 3 years of experience teaching adult education students and appropriate RI Teacher Certifications preferred.
