CLASSROOM FLOATER
Full-time (30 Hours per week) Part Year
Head Start Program - Southern Region
General Responsibility: Ensure a safe, healthy learning environment for children ages 18 months-5 years.
Specific Responsibilities: Able to travel to any of our three locations: North Kingstown, South Kingstown and Westerly. Assisting in providing classroom coverage where needed. Providing an environment that is socially and emotionally supportive to children and their families. Assisting the teaching staff, as directed, in conducting daily, age-appropriate activities for the children. Helping with the necessary steps to implementing mealtime. Eating with and assisting children in the development of social and self-help skills and sound nutritional practices. Giving assistance to the teaching staff, as directed, in preparing, setting up, conducting and cleaning up daily, age-appropriate activities for the children.
Qualifications: A minimum of one year’s experience in early childcare required. Must hold a Preschool CDA or willing to obtain one within one year of hire. Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards certificate preferred.
Special Qualifications: Be at least 18 years of age. Become CPR/First Aid certified within the first 2 months of hire. Must be able to work in a team environment with staff and families, be creative, and have good communication and leadership skills. Willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the program.
