Dental Hygienist Role
As a dental hygienist, you will play a vital role in preserving teeth and preventing the spread of oral disease.
Your responsibilities will include assessing patients' dental condition and needs through screening procedures, medical history review, dental charting, and period-charting.
You will also provide oral prophylaxis to remove calculus, accretions, and stain from tooth surfaces, as well as apply pit and fissure sealants and topical fluoride treatments.
Additionally, you will take radiographs as directed by the dentist, organize and maintain treatment rooms, sterilization areas, and dental labs, and assist dentists and dental assistants as needed.
Requirements
- Graduation from a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and approved by the RI State Board
- Ability to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize assignments
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English, with proficiency in a second language desired
- Certification as a dental hygienist and CPR/AED certification at the healthcare provider level
