What We Are Looking For:
The Racial Disparities and Continuum of Care Coordinator will manage the programs efforts to make available quality data, research, and culturally responsive solutions and recommendations to address and prevent racial and ethnic disparities in the Homeless and Housing Arena.
What You Will Do:
- The Coordinator is responsible for the homeless response system that meets the needs of persons experiencing homelessness in the counties of Halifax, Mecklenburg, Brunswick, and Charlotte.
- Organize, guide and strengthen the Continuum of Care and the agencies, nonprofits, congregations, and individuals working to end homelessness in Southside Virginia.
- Guides the development of a vision, mission and short- and long-term goals on the issue.
- Directs/coordinates/conducts the program’s data gathering, interpretation, use, and monitoring.
- Identifies the Racial Disparities related to training needs of staff and stakeholders.
- Develops ongoing training strategies for program staff and stakeholders.
- Works with Continuum of Care to design and implement a racial disparities planning process specific to Southside Virginia to reduce the numbers of minorities who are homeless and improve services to minorities.
- Ensures the participation in the Continuum of Care of minority local officials and community leaders.
What We Are Seeking:
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a human service, education or behavioral sciences related field with two - three years’ experience working in the human services or housing services field, one - two years in direct services, and one year as an administrator or supervisor.
- Basic research knowledge, good writing skills, good organizational and planning skills.
- Able to coordinate a diverse group of organizations and individuals.
- Capable of efficiently working independently with overall guidance and direction from senior management.
- General cultural awareness required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
