Job Summary:
As a Medical Assistant, you will be an integral part of our clinical team, providing direct patient care and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Support:
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by providers.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens.
- Patient Education:.
- Answer patient questions and address concerns with empathy.
- Administrative Duties:
- Update and maintain patient electronic medical records (EMR) accurately.
- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate referrals.
- Handle FMLA and disability paperwork.
- Manage DME (Durable Medical Equipment) ordering, including oxygen supplies, beds, and wheelchairs.
- Laboratory Coordination:
- Prepare and process laboratory samples for testing.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of specimens.
- Equipment and Supply Management:
- Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels of medical supplies and place orders as needed.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification:
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) is highly desirable.
- CPR certification required.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a medical office or oncology setting is a plus.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy is a must.
- Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficient with EMR systems and basic computer applications.
